Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

I have a question about child support. My ex husband is in the miltary (as are we) has a much higher rank, now wants to discontinue child support. He has not had contact with the kids for several yrs. even when my son had major surgery. Can he discontinue the child support? He says it's because he will be leaving the military... And making less money...

Thank you for your time.

Sure he can stop paying but then all you have to do is go to child support enforcement and they will make him pay - assuming of course that he can be found after he leaves the military.
