the owner of my storage building sold all my belongings without notifing me and is now trying to have my wife arrested for cutting the lock off that i thought belonged to me.can he sell my stuff without any notification?

Unfortunately, if rent is not paid at storage units, it is common for them to auction your stuff off and it is legal. Their rights depend on the terms of the lease agreement which typically include language concerning the sale of property after default without notice.

The arrest threat is unlikely as the District Attorney won't waste time unless more than the breaking of a lock was alleged.
