Legal Question in Civil Litigation in North Carolina

I was summoned to appear before the magistrate regarding a small claim action that was filed against me. I am not familiar with the company nor am I familiar with the claim. I have not been notified by mail or by phone regarding this claim until the sheriff presented mw with the summons. What should I do?

You should go to court on the appointed time to defend it or else you will have a judgment entered against you. You could always call the phone number of the Plaintiff or Plaintiff's attorney to get more information on the claim.
