Victim of DV, filing vawa

Hi I am a victim of domestic violence. I am married to a US citizen and I am in the US on a K3 visa. Due to extreme abuse I am in a shelter. He never filed for my papers, so I have no ead, thus no means of survival.

I have been advised to file vawa. My question is, is there any other way to get an EAD...

EAD has to wait until your VAWA petition gets to the "Deferred Action" stage. Otherwise, USCIS will deny any application for an EAD submitted concurrently with a VAWA.
