Legal Question in Intellectual Property in North Carolina

Subscription Database

I'm starting a for-profit web site business that will charge subscribers to enter a premium database. In that database they will be able to build a list of insurance companies who are writing certain types of insurance in their county. Can I allow a subscriber to select and sort their list of insurance companies using things like financial ratings that are proprietary to the rating companies as long as I don't display the actual value of each company's rating? For instance can I allow a user to create his list based on companies that have minimum financial ratings as long as I don't display the actual ratings by company in the final list? (The subscriber would be told that the final list included only companies with ratings above a certain value and to go to the rating company website to get more information)

Re: Subscription Database

This appears to be a highly specific question - one that I would not be able to answer fully without much more information about these ratings and where this information is coming from. Feel free to contact my office to chat further.
