Legal Question in Employment Law in North Carolina

i work in a nursing home in NC. if anyone punches in 1 minute late on a week-end they are scheduled to work, they have to work the following week-end to make up for that minute they punched in late. also, if someone is out on maternity leave, when they return to work, they have to work every week-end they were out on leave, we were just wondering if this is legal or what

Yes, it is legal., As long as you are paid for what you work, there is no law that prevents the company from employing these poiicies. It seems the concnern is working on the weekends and the law does not protect against working unfavorable shifts.
