Legal Question in Legal Ethics in North Carolina

Law on Giving Estimates

I was given a health estimate for dental work and now it has changed. I payed the original estimate, and had the surgery. three months later the dentist is saying my insurance will not cover this so I have to pay more. Original estimate was 260.00, which I payed, now there saying I owe 433.00 more dollars. This will make my total co pay 693.00, no where near the original estimate. Is there a law of how much one can be off on an estimate?

Re: Law on Giving Estimates

Once the surgery was performed at the price you were given, there is no way you should agree to pay more. The dentist doesn't get to set prices that way.

The price on the date that surgery was performed is the price you pay, and any additional services he performed after that are billed separately.
