incorrect funds for closing

bought real estate via mail..at closing our attroney had miscalculated the amount due at closing(he forgot to add the last page of fees from hud statement).this errror was caught at closing,but was never communicated to us til after closing.the attorney now says we are responsible for this fees which we had never approved. are we legally responsible or is the attorney who took this matter into his own hands responsible.

I don't really understand the question. If these were fees that you should have paid, then it is your responsibility. Your question seems to indicate that the mistake was a miscalculation in the amount owed. That still would mean that you owe the amount.
