land onwer responsibility

the brother of one of my neighors came on my property and one other persons property and cut several trees down. while doing this one of the trees fell across the back of a person vehicle. the car owner wants my home owners insurance to pay for the damage, the person cutting the trees did so without anyones permission or approval and stated at the time he would cover all the damages but now does not want to and damages est. stand at over 1600.00 and car owner acepted 300.00 from the person doing the cutting and will not pay any more.

If the person who cut the trees down did not have permission to do so and damaged property while cutting he is responsible for any damage.I may have an alternative solution to retaining an attorney to help with this and any other issues that may arise in the future.
