Shouldn't the money owed to the contractor be included in your bankruptcy? You should speak to your bankruptcy attorney about that and see if the petition can be amended. If it was after you filed and it is not included in your petition, I am surprised that the person did work for you without requiring some type of payment up front.

They may be able to file the lien and then follow it up with legal action and the action will be held in abeyance until you are out of bankruptcy if the debt was not included in your petition and you do not want to amend your petition to include the debt.
