I wanted to know if I can legally break a listing contract with the real estate company that we filed with. They put us under a 1 year contract! Also, they merged with another company and want us to sign a new contract. Do we have to do that or can we tell them we are not interested in dealing with them now that they are merged with the other company.

Impossible to say without looking at the contract you did sign. But I doubt that you are obligated to sign a new contract.
