Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina

Prayer for Judgement and Traffic Court

I received a ticket last November for not stopping completely at a stop sign. I've already continued the case two times, and the next meeting is this Friday. The reason I continued last time is that I could not use Prayer for Judgement without a driving record.

1. Are there any negative side-effects (for lack of a better word) to using a Prayer for Judgement?

2. How many points is it for not stopping at a stop sign? What about an unsafe moving violation or speeding 5 miles in a 35 (in case I accept the reduced charge)?

3. In NC, how many points will increase auto insurance?

4. If I have points on my license, will anyone know about it, and will I have to put it on applications and such when asked if I've been charged of any misdemeanors for the rest of my life?

5. If a court case is continued, do I have to pay the cost of each session?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Re: Prayer for Judgement and Traffic Court

You pay court costs once.

You are allowed one prayer for judgment (PJC) per household in a three year period for insurance purposes. It is one insurance point for not stopping at stop sign - 25% increase. 2 points on your dmv record. If you have no other tickets in the past three years, then a 40 in a 35 will also have no insurance increases.
