Reckless Driving Consequences

I recently received a speeding ticket for going 100 in a 55. In my defense I was concerned that the person behind me was following me (they were also pulled over), I told the police officer this but I am not sure how this will effect anything. This is my first time ever being pulled over. What are my options for defense of the charge and the possible consequences?
