Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in North Carolina

Inheritance without will

My grandfather died 9/01. Grandmom states he burned the will. My father died many years ago and his brother lives with grandmother now. Does everything automatically go to grandma, or are the grandkids entitled to anything? What does the law state about inheritance in NC without will? Is there somewhere online that I can research this information?
