i do not have an atturney can i go to jail over credit debt

You cannot be imprisoned for debt. If you committed fraud or got money through deception, that is a different story. But if all you did was get a credit card and not be able to pay it, you cannot be taken to jail.

If a collector has threatened you with jail, they've violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Go to www.ftc.gov for additional information on this important consumer protection statute.
