Can two creditors garnish my wages at the same time, each taking 25%?

The federal Consumer Credit Protection Ac imposes limits on the amount of wages that states may permit creditors to garnish. It provides:

The maximum part of the aggregate disposable earnings of an individual for any workweek which is subject too garnishment may not exceeed: (1) 25 per centum of his disposabloe earnings for that week; or (2 the amount by which his disposable earnings for that week exceed thirty times the Federal minimum hourly wage prescribed by section 6(a)(1) of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 in effect at the time the earnings are payable.

In summary, the state cannot allow your wages to be garnished by more than 25% unless you owe money for court-ordered support, chapter 13 bankruptcy payments, or federal taxes.
