Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

Judicial Release

Is there a time restriction a Judge has to make a decision on a judicial release? My son filed on his own a little over 5 months ago, and has heard nothing. He had a public defender, but he took another job within the court system and my son was never assigned another PD. My son has filed a few times and was turned down right away. One other time he filed, didn't hear anything for 3 months and wrote a nice letter to the judge inquiring about the status. The judge denied him the day he got the letter. We were told the judge had 3 months, then we heard 4 months, and someone else said 6 months. What is the time frame and how does it all happen? Thank you.
