Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

gift money

While we were married my husbands mother gave him $350,000.00 as a gift. He bought condo's with the money which has both of our names on them. Now he tells me when we get divocred I am not entitled to any of this money because it was a gift from his mother. Is this correct?

Re: gift money

it depends on whom the gift is meant. if it was just for your husband and only in his name then is is a nonmarital asset. I would try to get a letter from you mother in law that it was for both of you and not to one or the other.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!
