Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Paternity-Child support guidelines

1. After paternity is established, what guidelines do I expect to pay, I have one child from a ex-wife, will paying support to another child also be considered? I make around $28,000 and the mother makes approx $30,000.

2. If I give up all parental rights, what does that all include?

3. I don't wish the child to carry my last name, does that automatically happen after paternity is established or only don't in the courts?

Re: Paternity-Child support guidelines

1) Expect to pay approximately 25 to 35 percent of the gross pay as and for child support. There is a computation program on the summit county domestic relations web site.

2)Giving up parental rights does not mean that you will not pay child support. It merely means that you will not have contact with the child. The only way to cut off child support is to have the child adopted by someone or have them emancipated.

3)Just because paternity is established does not mean that the child will cary your last name. That is a separate proceedure.
