Legal Question in Employment Law in Ohio

Can I sue?

I worked for a small co. and was the only female in the shop. I worked very hard, and was told i was a valuable employee. The guys have extremely bad tempers, and one in particular is very perverted. This morning, one of them got angry and started throwing things, and i got hit, and got hurt. I was angry enough that i clocked out and left. A little while later, i went in and talked with the owner who stated that it was best that I left because it was not working out because I was a female. i busted my butt for 8 months, and they know it, and now they are saying because i am a female it is best if i don't come back. Can i sue for that, and the harassment that i put up with from the guys? not to mention the fear of being injured when one of them would fly off the handle in anger.

Re: Can I sue?

In Ohio, the company need only have four employees to qualify for sexual discrimination. Depending on the further facts of your situation, you may have a case for sexual discrimination. You have 300 days from the last act of discrimination to file a charge of discrimination with the Civil Rights Commission in Ohio. I would suggest you contact an attorney to discuss your rights. If you'd like to give me a call, I can recommend an attorney in your area of Ohio.
