Legal Question in Personal Injury in Ohio

Is my lawyer cheating me on my settlements?

have signed previous settlement checks for such extreemely LOW amounts from a few companies and NOW I am almost certain that my lawyer is receiving BIGGER settlements than what he tells me. I NEVER see any proof only his office statement where he took out his 33 1/3% and I get the small balance. Under law in Ohio, WHAT can I demand that he show me proof of what he received? There are many more settlements supposed to take place, but this has been going on now for 6 yrs. and I don't think he is working on any of the others BUT it still shows up on the County Court pages as STILL OPEN which began in 2003. How do I request PROOF since this is all based on a contingency, if he recieve something, then I get something too? Do you think I could quit this lawyer, hire another one although the statue of limitations has expired to file any NEW case. Could a NEW LAWYER pick up my case filed by my current attorney?

Re: Is my lawyer cheating me on my settlements?

I need more info. It sounds like you are the client of this attorney. But what type of litigation are you involved in that is yielding numerous settlements for years from various companies? You can always fire your attorney and retaina new one. But for cases in active litigation, you generally need the Judge to sign off on it for new counsel to be substituted.
