Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

A friend died with no will, survived by minor children and parents but no spouse. Only estate property of note are two cars both were in his name. How do the parents go about transferring the titles? They have been told it will cost them at least a thousand dollars, when the cars are barely worth two.

If the parents paid the funeral expenses they may be able to have the automobiles transferred to them using a summary release from administration.

If that is not the case then a release from administration could be filed but if the children are minors you may need to have a guardianship.

I would consult with an attorney that can advise you on the best procedure.
