Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Oklahoma

Sewer back up

The city where I live cleaned the main sewer city sewer line and it backed up in my house with me not there and ruined everything on the floor. All the carpet is having to be pulled out in every room as well as an emergency restoration service coming in. Is going to cost me thousands of dollars. Is the city liable and do I have any recourse?

Re: Sewer back up

Yes. If it is directly related to something they did to alter the sewer line. However, I say this caustiously because I do not have enough information; for instance, whether or not the City did an inspection to determine its cause and if you had called them to do so, this is very important on the onset.
