Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Oklahoma

Bad Check

Is there a limitation on the amount of time a check can be collected on. I wrote a check back in 1995 in Oklahoma while I was stationed at Ft Sill. I have heard nothing until about 2 weeks ago about this check. The DA called me and told me that they were issuing a warrent for my arrest and that if I paid the 93.00 for the 16.40 check from 95 they would removed the warrent and show it as a misdemeanor on my criminal record. I am military and have always been they could have contacted me at any time but waited all this time can they do that?

Re: Bad Check

I'd write to the DA and see whether that phone call was real or not. The Soldiers & Sailors Act may have stopped the statute of limitations on a misdemeanor charge from running, but something just doesn't sound right. Does the address they gave match up with the DA's office?
