Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Oklahoma

hardship protection

I have a judgement for a credit card with a 250.00 credit limit that has now grown to 1727.00 total. i am only able to work part-time; I care for my children plus 3 elderly family members, one recently diagnosed w/cancer. The collection firm will not accept my offer of 20.00 per month to pay off this debt--this is all I can afford! Is there any help for me?

Re: hardship protection

If the creditor attempts to garnish your wages, you can file for a hardship exemption with the court. The judge will then decide the amount of money that you can pay based on your expenses and income. You need to realize, however, that the judgment will only get substantially larger with interest. If you have other creditors bothering you, you might consider bankruptcy.
