Legal Question in Immigration Law in Oklahoma

Hello,

My fiance is 27 years old and he is from Mexico. His parents never registered his birth in Mexico City and so he has never had a birth certificate. Is there anything we can do?

Affidavits of his birth should be prepared as soon as possible by his parents, preferably with some explanation as to why his birth was not registered. He should find out whether it is possible and advisable for his parents to register him now. Also, other witnesses of his birth in Mexico should provide their affidavits as well. He likely has a baptismal certificate which helps.

As birth certificates are available in Mexico, if he immigrates to the U.S. he will also need proof from the Mexican authorities that no birth certificate is registered there.

The above is general information. It is not legal advice and doesn't form an attorney client relationship. For further information, you may contact [email protected] or 818 609 1953.
