Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Oklahoma

My mother took her life 14 months ago in Oklahoma without a will. She had divorced my father 32 years earlier. My sister and I are her only children. She had very little in the way of possessions, it took us less than two hours to pack her belongings, We saw no need to go through probate. She had/has a checking account with less than $2000 in it that we are trying to close. We don't know how to provide the bank with proof that we are her children.

I am sorry for your loss.

There is a fairly simple and inexpensive proceedure available for the situation you describe. It is found in Title 6 Okla. Statutes Sec. 906. By following the statute you should not have any problem getting the bank to release your mother's funds to you and your sister. If you need any assistance, please give me a call.
