Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

ORS 107.108

I started a business prior to my son turning 18. Just before his highschool graduation, my exwife had me reassessed while i was still employed with my former employer, but after the business had been established. I have since filed an appeal.

Now, my child support has increased by $300 per month and my income has been drastically reduced.

My son has received a grant and has qualified for financial aid.

I want to help him with college and living expenses, but cannot afford the $829 per month.

Will providing evidence of the grant, his own employment, and financial aid help me to get a reduction in support?

Yes, very likely so. You could also file for a recalculation based on a fundamental change in circumstances if your income took a big hit. Children have a responsibility to assist in supporting themselves, so I think your chances of a reduction are good.
