Legal Question in Banking Law in Pakistan

I gave a check to someone and then paid them the money in cash. Couldn't get the check back later on as i was busy. Now they sent the check to get cashed and it got bounced as my bank called me and told me that the check got bounced but the reason wasn't insufficient funds. It happened cuz as per my bank they don't accept checks if it was dated 6 months ago. So the check was dated for 11th oct i guess and the person sent it for clearance on 18th April. Can they press any charges against me?

Legally speaking you are safe as if a cheque is presented after six months of its date of presentation then its considered as an expired negotiable instrument. However in Pakistan illegal means can be used to harrass anyone. You should bring this thing to the notice of concerned police station so that FIR against you is not registered in any case..
