Legal Question in Family Law in Panama

divorce or annulment?

I am a U.S. citizen who got married 5/18/03 in Panama to a resident of panama. We were married in her house and never in a church. I have been living with her in Panama since the marriage and in november i applied for a visa for her to come to the U.S. In December i went back to Panama to live with her and we decided after our 1 year anniversary i would go back to the U.S. to work while she stood in Panama awaiting her visa. On April 27th only one month after our one year anniversary i found incriminating evidence of her taking on a lover and having an affair. In looking back over the last year i am posivtive it was not the only affair she had and realized i was being used for financial gain. Can i get an annulment? Can she get alimony? We don't have anything and never bought anything together. I have money in a bank in the U.S. and her name IS NOT on the accounts can she still get something? She has torn my insides out and left me empty what can i do to prevent her from taking more and get this over with as soon as possible?

Re: divorce or annulment?

You can divorce her in Connecticut only if you have been residing in CT for at least twelve months before filing for the divorce.

In that case, it is not likely that she would get any alimony after such a short marriage.

She has no rights to any bank accounts in your name only.
