You asked about rent.

Rentals are either verbal or written. If the lease is for one year or longer the lease must be in writing. If the lease is for a shorter period then it may be verbal.

There is no state law about how often rent must be paid. But, you must pay rents in the amounts and at the intervals agreed.

Generally rent is paid once per month, usually in advance. So on the first of any month the tenant would be paying for the next 30 days. By agreement a landlord and tenant can agree to rental payments in shorter periods of a pro rata amount. There are many places where people rent weekly or even daily.
