Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

What else can I do?

2 Years ago I made a personal loan to my niece's husband to purchase a car, because his was stolen, the loan was in the amount of $2,000. There was also an additional $200 for back rent and another $200 for a dining rm table. Of this he has only paid $270 and this was 1 yr ago. I filed in civil court in 7/04 and won the judgement, he made a promise to pay $200/mo, but I have yet to recieve a payment. The total judgement was in the amount of $2,227.00. Please advise as to what avenues I have left. He has made numerous promises to make pmt but has not followed through, he has also always set the terms of repayment, but I'm at my wits end with him and need to impress upon him the need to pay this loan. Thank you.

Re: What else can I do?

I suggest you might want to contact legal counsel. You can levy on personal property (including a car) or if he owns real estate you might want to record the judgment in the County Court House. That will place a lien on the property. To do that you need to obtain a certified copy of the judgment to record. Once it is recorded you can attach bank accounts. However, the procedures are complicated and attorney might be needed.
