credit card universal clause
my mother has been subjected to universal credit card (fraud) clause, when Discover decide to make like she missed a payment or two. Then inflated her payments way beyond usery. Her original balance was $1700 to now $4000. How do she combat this fraudulent assault?
Re: credit card universal clause
There are a couple ways. Because the increase is so high, it looks like you might have a Statute of Limitations defense. The statute is 4 years.
Even if you don't have a Statute of Limitations defense, though, you should contest the debt if it goes to court because there are probably some defenses to the interest rate. Generally the credit card companies know this and are willing to settle.
