Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

My dentist keeps billing me for a procedure that was covered in full by my insurance in March of 2010; however, they never received payment from my insurance company because the insurance company has their old mailing address on file. I called the dentist multiple times (and visited the office multiple time) to inform them that they need to update their mailing address with the insurance company. They have not done so and do not appear to care at all. I have contacted my insurance company and they said that they cannot do anything until the address is updated correctly. In the meantime, I keep getting billed for the procedure. The latest bill issued a warning that my I will be turned over to the collection agency. I don't want my excellent credit to potentially be ruined. What should I do?

You should write your dentist a letter. So far you have called, and that hasn't resonated. It also hasn't generated a paper trail that can potentially help you if the dentist keeps acting illogically. Perhaps send it to the dentist at both his office *and* home addresses -- that way, the billing department knows that you're going over its head to inform the dentist (who probably knows nothing of this). Best of luck to you -- it sure sounds frustrating.
