Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Sheriff's Sale Question

Once a sheriff's sale has been executed by a creditor is the original debt considered satisfied even if the proceeds from the sale are not enough to cover the amount of the judgement? Or will the creditor still have the right to continue to collect on the unsatisfied judgement amount?

Re: Sheriff's Sale Question

You asked about collection of a debt after a sheriff's sale.

A judgment debt is the most serious form of debt there is. When a sheriff's sale is leaves a deficiency in the debt then that deficiency remains until the entire debt is satisfied or the debt expires with being renewed.

In the end, the only way to satisfy a judgment debt is to pay it or in some cases go bankrupt to discharge the debt.

Roger
