Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

My brother has been in prison now for about a month. He was accused of being involved in a burglary. However, the local law enforcement has said they know it is not him. They know who robbed the store, but have no evidence. We have tried to search the inmate locator and arrest websites and cannot find anything for his name, social or birthdate. There also are no formal charges placed against my brother. Can he be held in jail for a month with no charges? Wouldn't his information need to be posted online? My parents have requested the information and charges multiple times and have gotten the run around.

You really need to hire a lawyer for your brother to rattle the cages and find out what is going on. Plus, attorneys know and have ways of getting information that you and your family probably don't (nothing personal!).

Best of luck to you and your brother. Feel free to contact me offline if you'd like to discuss his situation further.
