Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

Retail Theft Law

I am looking for information on retail theft laws in Pennsylvania. I was wrongly accused of ''attempting'' to leave a Target store with merchandise, when in fact I was only going to Customer Service, I had even asked a chashier before proceeding to Customer Service with the merchandise. Two security guards grabbed me from either side and escorted me to their office where I was held and accused of stealing for approximately an hour. I was then given a paper saying that I was no longer welcome at Target stores and told that I would recieve paperwork in the mail. If you have any helpful information please call or email me. Thank You, Heather

Re: Retail Theft Law

You need to retain an attorney as soon as possible to avoid any possible criminal charges. You may also have a possible civil suit against the store, however, these charges are fact specific and therefore you need to meet with an attorney as soon as possible.

Please contact my office for more information, I can be reached either by phone at 412.731.0865 or by my website at www.Alleghenyattorneys.com.

Re: Retail Theft Law

You can be arrested for "attempting" retail theft, if the circumstances around what they observed would lead them to believe that you were trying to exit the store. It's very fact specific, so I would need to know more about your movements, etc.

Do you know who the cashier was who you talked to about going to customer service? Did they talk to him/her after they stopped you? What did he/she say?

You need to hire an attorney if you're charged with this offense.
