Re: supeona

Traditionally, one State lacks extra-territorial jurisdiction to subpoena witnesses from another State. However, recently States have tried to cure this defect with special provisions in certain cases depending upon the nature of the contacts which the witness had with the State.

One would have to see the subpoena and determine the Court which issued the subpoena and the statute pursuant to which it was issued to be able to answer the question.

What is clear is unless and until you actually get the subpoena there is no reason for you to appear. Then only after you consult with counsel to determine the answer to the above issues, would you know the answer to the question.
