Legal Question in DUI Law in Pennsylvania

Drunk Driving 1st offense

My son was charged with dui in Bucks County, told he could not get pd so tried to get a lawyer, couldn't afford it, went to court by himself, has a trial date in a month, should he still try to have a lawyer with him or is he totally up the creek? What will they do? He said he got papers to sign and get into ARD and will have to pay court costs and fine, is that really it or is there more? Thanks for your help in advance.

Bucks County has been known to through defndant's into jil if they come to court without a lawyer. Your son will be asked to waive certain rights as a condition to enter ARD. The lawyer allows the judge to have the lawyer certify he has explained the waiver to the client. A single appearance for an ARD disposition is not necessarily that expensive a proposition. I offer free consultations.
