The law requires that you file a Petition to Change Name in the County where you reside, which is Lehigh. The Court will schedule a hearing to determine if the Petition may be approved. The criteria is whether or not the purpose of the name change is to perpetuate a fraud or avoid creditors. Assuming neither is the case and all interested parties are properly notified, the court should approve the petition.

I have not handled a name chnage for some time and would not do so in Lehigh County. But I have the name and number of a local attorney who would handle such a case. If you wish to obtain that information, please feel free to call or e-mail me.
