Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

My husband and I are in the process of getting a divorce in Pa. He filed for the divorce and is unable to pay his lawyer in full. I would like to get remarried. Can I get remarried if he still owes his attorney money

Thank you for your question,

In order for you to remarry, your present marriage must first be dissolved by the entry of a Decree in Divorce signed by the Judge. It does not matter who initiated the divorce proceedings. If all the required divorce pleadings have been filed with the Court, either party can request the entry of a Divorce Decree. Once that is done, the marriage will be dissolved and either party will be free to remarry.

Kindest regards,
