Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

HVAC Contractor

I had a HVAC system installed in 8/07. In Dec. I recieved a $ 1,200 electrical bill. almost 5x's the normal bill. The contractor installed the wrong unit and request that the local electrical company check out their equiment. I had that done and their response was that their equipment operated correctly and the daily loads show that when th ewrong unit had a problem the usage was extrememly high and when the correct unit was installed the usage wnet back to the normal range. The electrical company agreed to cut the billing in half because of us being a good outsatnding customer. I can left e mails & voice mails to the HVAC contarctor and they refuse to call me back. I assume I need to fill a claims court. Can I sue or ask judgement for $$ above the electric bill and court costs. Also can I do negative advertising outside is business with signs.

Re: HVAC Contractor

You can get yourself in trouble doing the "negative advertising." I would not suggest it.

Did the HVAC company replace the unit? Are you just trying to get you extra cost on the electric bill covered?

From your posting it appears that you bill was 5 times normal. The eclectic company cut it in half. So now it is 2 and 1/2 time normal. It is likely that you would only be able to get the difference between your normal bill and what you are left with now. Plus court cost.
