What type of lawyer to hire for defending against an injury suit

My son, 17, hit another boy, 16, and his parent is threatening to sue. He punched him once in the face, and broke a bone near his eye. He was charged with a juvinile offense of ''aggravated assault'' I would like to know what my next step should be leagally.

Well what is the other parent asking you to do so he doesn't sue. I would suspect he is looking for you to at least pay his son's medical expenses.

Seems like a reasonable request, except you don't want this payment to be construed as an admission of guilt.

To that end you need a lawyer to negotiate a settlement. A key component of the settlement will be a release. Its an agreement between you and the other parent that prevents them from among other things suing you after you met their demands.
