Legal Question in Immigration Law in Pennsylvania

H1 to L2 changes

Hi,

I am currently on a H1 visa. In case I quit my job to change to L2 visa as my husband--name removed--visa, is it possible. Do I need to go out of the country to get my L2 visa? I have a valid I-94 till 2010. How long before my quitting the job do I have to initiate my L2 transfer?

Re: H1 to L2 changes

I would recommend that you file for a change of status from H to L-2 prior to quitting your job. USCIS typically requires proof that you are in status at the time of filing a change of status. The proof in this case would be a copy of your most recent paystub and a copy of your I-94 which should be current.

I would not file it after quitting, I would file it before quitting.
