Legal Question in Immigration Law in Pennsylvania

Immigration - citizenship

Hi, We got our green card in Dec.2007. We would like to apply for citizenship after completion of 5 years. My daughter who is doing undergraduate course want to go to Germany for a year under study abroad programme of her university. Will this stay abroad affect her getting the citizenship or will it get it delayed by a year?

Re: Immigration - citizenship

It may delay her more than a year since it would require her to be out of the country for over 6 months. I would also recommend that she get a re-entry permit. You should discuss the facts and dates with an attorney too see the best strategy. He or she will run the calculations and let you know. If you'd like to speak to me feel free to call my office.
