car accident

i got into a car accident and the girl that i hit only gave me one estimate. how many does she have to give me by law?

There's no law that requires a particular number of estimates. It's just a question of what's a reasonable cost of repair. Many body shops don't like to give free estimates any more, because it's a waste of time if they're not going to get the job.

I'm assuming you're not disputing that the accident was your fault.

What normally happens is that your insurance company would send out an adjuster to make the estimate, and the repair shops agree to do the work for that amount.

So, I'm assuming that you didn't have insurance and were driving illegally. You have no bargaining power when you're an at-fault, uninsured driver. If you don't settle the claim, she can sue you, present her estimate in court, and your license can be suspended until you pay under the financial responsibility laws.
