Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

Hi,

I have 18 months contract with my employer. 12 months is already passed. I have an offer from another company and I want to switch my job. The agreement says that if I quit the job before 18 months then the employer may seek to penalise me to recover their loss.

There is also another contract with my same employer which gives the provision to quit the job anytime with 2 weeks written notice.

The titles of the agreements are:

1. Professional Services Agreement

2. Employment agreement

The first agreement mentions just about 2 weeks notice & the second agreement mentions about the 18 months contract.

Please let me know if the contract holds ground against me If I breach the 18 months term contract.

Looking forward to getting a positve response. Thanks a ton!

Thank you,

Reddy

It is impossible to give you an opinion with regard to the enforceability of these contracts without reading them and interviewing you. You should contact an employment lawyer in your area for such review and opinion. Given the likely fiancial interest involved in your issue, it is well worth the cost.

This answer to your legal inquiry is based upon the limited facts stated in your question. Accurate legal advice is based upon an exchange between a lawyer and a client. The lawyer can then ask about other facts that may change or confirm the answer. Without that exchange, this reply should be considered limited in value. You should rely on this answer only at your own risk. Direct consultation with a lawyer is always recommended. Answering your question does not create an attorney-client relationship.
