Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

If I did not sign contract can I be held liable

I work for a rather large corporation, they put me through school from 1997-2002. I have just graduated, when I started school there was no policy in place, but now they want employes to stay with the company for a year after graduating, or the employee is responsible for paying the company back for the education. I have been with the co. 10 years, I did not sign the form and because of the employee unfriendly policies they have in place I want to leave. (these are new changes in the last two years) To name a few is the maxiumum of 3% pay increases, lousy short term disability, cutting of insurance benefits while employees contribution climbs as well as many more. I have become stagnant at my position and want to move on and not with this corporation. If I leave can I be held liable to pay back the tuition? I have been with the company for 10 years isn't that enough??

If you did not agree to repay the tuition at the time they paid it, you should not be liable. If there was a policy in place when you accepted the tuition reimbursement, and you were aware of it, then you might be held to have implicitly agreed to the policy. However, the company can not hold you responsible based upon a policy enacted after you received the benefit.
