Wrongful Termination!

Can an employer terminate and employee for not being at work if the employee is hospitalized for an uncontrolable element? Such as Bloodclot in legs or lungs. Chest pains that might of been a slight heartattack, etc.. I s this considered wrongful termination?

Re: Wrongful Termination!

You don't indicate if you have a written contract with the employer, or if you are a member of a union. If you are, or have a contract with a "just cause" provision, then perhaps the employer cannot terminate you for this reason.

Generally, though, Pennsylvania is an "at-will employment" state, meaning that an employer may terminate you for any reason or no reason at any time.
