Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

office manager takes rent/child support payments out of check

My son works at a large apartment complex. The office manager deducts monthly payments from his pay check for child-support and rent (he also resides in same complex). In short, he just discovered that even though the monies were deducted from his pay check, the records reflex that he is two months behind in his rent and that the child-support payments for two months were not made. The office manager quit her job when she was informed via the complex owner that she would not receive a raise, because my son would be getting the raise instead. What can my son do to have this matter corrected?

Re: office manager takes rent/child support payments out of check

THIS IS A CRIMINAL MATTER!!

My guess is the deductions were pocketed by his former boss. The apartment complex needs to know what has happened. As do the authorities.

The first thing you son needs to do is go to his new boss with his pay stubs and explain the problem. Next he needs to call the district attorney's office and file a complaint.

He also should inform the domestic relations office that handles his child support. He also needs to keep them informed as to what is going on.

Your son is a victim here. So have him get his paystubs together tonight and tomorrow he should contact those folks I mentioned before.

Good Luck,

{John}
